Why clean?

Caravan awning and tent cleaning and reproofing

Your awning is the calling card of your caravan: it gives you extra living space and shelters you from wind and weather. After a season of sun, rain and falling leaves, though, it no longer looks the way it did at the start of the summer.

For both lifespan and looks, it pays to have your caravan awning or tent cleaned and reproofed regularly. We are happy to do it for you, so you can enjoy a clean, fresh awning again.

Benefits

Why have your caravan awning cleaned and reproofed

01

A fresh, well-kept look

Regular cleaning and reproofing make your awning look fresh and well kept again.

02

Better water repellency

After reproofing, water beads off better and the tent dries faster.

03

Longer lifespan

Cleaning removes dirt and stains that attack the fabric; reproofing adds a water- and dirt-repellent layer on top. That makes the fabric more resilient and extends its life.

04

Protection against the weather

Our coating protects your awning from rain, wind, dirt and UV light.

05

Easier to store

A clean, reproofed awning stores better and stays in good condition for longer.

Our process

How we clean and reproof your caravan awning

  1. Stap 01

    Cleaning

We rinse your awning in our washing line at reduced pressure to remove surface dirt. It then soaks for 10 to 15 hours in a bath with our own cleaning agent, at no more than 20 °C, so there is no shrinkage at all. Next, we rinse away the loosened dirt and treat stubborn stains with a spray method and specialist soaps. Finally, a short bath neutralises all the products used.

  2. Stap 02

    Reproofing and drying

Once dry, the awning travels on a conveyor to be coated. It gets a dirt- and water-repellent treatment that protects against algae, green growth, rain, mould, mildew, UV light and spider droppings, among other things. Your awning is then 100% waterproof again.

  3. Stap 03

    Polishing the windows

Awnings often have large plastic windows. We polish them by hand; our Window Spray protects the plasticisers in the window film and removes fine scratches.

  4. Stap 04

    Packing and return

We pack your awning and prepare it for transport. Once it arrives at the collection point, you can pick it up there, clean.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Answers to the most common questions about cleaning and reproofing.

How much does it cost to have a caravan awning cleaned and reproofed?
We price awnings and tents by weight: the heavier the fabric, the higher the price. A typical caravan awning weighs between 12 and 35 kg. Tell us the brand, model or weight and we will send you a price indication.
How long does cleaning take?
It depends on the season. From February to April our facility is at full capacity, so allow 5 to 7 weeks. The rest of the year your awning is usually ready within a week. Drop it off in the autumn and you will have it back well before the new camping season.
Can I clean my caravan awning myself?
Remove light dirt with clean water and a soft brush. Harsh cleaners and pressure washers damage the fabric and the coating. For mould, mildew and green growth, professional cleaning followed by reproofing is the answer.
Will my awning shrink in the wash?
No. We soak at no more than 20 °C, so the process causes no shrinkage at all.
